Recent ActivityThe Helix home school program is an off-site Internet based program that allows students to attend Helix High School remotely by enrolling in quarterly Internet classes taught by Helix teachers. The home school program allows students the flexibility of taking up to three courses online while having the same CIF eligibility to play sports at Helix, participate in any of our after school extra curricular activities or to come on to campus to take part in one of our many clubs.
Student attendance is taken at 12 noon every school day. To avoid being marked absent, students are required to log in by 12 noon every SCHOOL day, access their courses and check for teacher announcements. Students may be eligible to be enrolled in the Helix home school program if they meet the following criteria:
- At least 3.0 grade point average
- No more than 10 credits deficient
- Adequate resources in the home (i.e. High speed Internet, reliable computer)
- Prior home school experience

Home School Intake Procedures Home School Evaluation Process Steps to take if interested in the Online Home School Program Step one: Parent/Guardian and student will meet with Home School Lead, who will explain the program, determine interest and evaluate eligibility. Step two: Interested Home School clients should bring two copies of their current transcript, discipline and attendance records. To expedite the process, bring these important documents when meeting with program lead for interest/eligibility meeting. Potential clients will be asked to sign a commitment contract (See “How are Students Evaluated for the Program) and review program expectations. Step three: All paperwork, including an eligibility evaluation will be submitted to the OHS counselor for review and signed off on by OHS administrator. Students will be notified of their acceptance and enrollment within 72 hours of initial meeting with Rebecca Kiesz. All students are encouraged to maintain school attendance until a decision is made and or a check out/check in process is initiated. Step Five: Students will work with Rebecca Kiesz for a mandatory first week of enrollment introduction, for two hours a day, acclimating to the program.
